Jessica Wheeler Announces Allegiant Air Will Be Adding Flights from Concord to Tampa/St. Pete.

Concord - Allegiant has announced new, nonstop jet service between Concord Regional Airport and Tampa Bay via St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport beginning Nov. 13, 2014. Tampa Bay becomes the second destination served by Allegiant from Concord. Allegiant first announced its initial service from the airport on Aug. 20, 2013, nearly one year ago to the day.

""We are thrilled to expand our brand of low-cost vacation travel in Concord with our second destination in less than a year,"" said Andrew C. Levy, Allegiant Travel Company president and COO. "We look forward to connecting the community to Florida''s Gulf Coast with affordable, nonstop service and the ability to book their entire vacation with us for less."

""We have enjoyed our relationship with Allegiant in launching scheduled passenger service here in Concord, which has been successful so far,"" said Concord Regional Airport aviation director Rick Cloutier. ""We are pleased that Allegiant is adding destinations to serve the community.""

Allegiant last year became the first scheduled commercial carrier to serve Concord Regional Airport, when it operated its first flight to Orlando Sanford International Airport on Dec. 20, 2013. "Our Orlando route has performed well," said Jessica Wheeler, of Allegiant Air. "In fact, we will soon be expanding our flights from two times per week to four times per week very soon." No date was given as to when those additional flights would be added to Allegiant's schedule. The flights to Tampa/St. Pete will begin at a frequency of two times per week. As Allegiant caters to leisure travelers, all their flights operate between Thursdays and Sundays each week.

However, with the additional flights to Orlando and now Tampa Bay, Wheeler announced that more personnel would be needed in order to service customers on days when flights departed.
