After the question is popped and that three-letter word is uttered with joy (y-e-s!), the next question becomes, “Where do I start?” Selecting a venue and caterer, securing transportation – and the guest list only continues to grow. Where will they stay? Don’t let panic set in.
No matter what stage of the process, the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) can help couples plan their special day in Cabarrus County. Leaving the color schemes and cake flavors to the experts, the CVB team provides a range of complimentary resources and support services to make welcoming guests a little less stressful.
As a destination marketing organization, the CVB’s mission is to drive visitation to Cabarrus County, all while helping to create an extraordinary experience.
“Memorable occasions deserve outstanding memorable experiences, and that’s exactly what our team strives for when providing assistance with wedding plans,” president and CEO, Donna Carpenter, says. “Our core goal is to make people feel welcome, and it’s an honor to help newlyweds start their story in this destination.”
Combine North Carolina’s breathtaking piedmont landscape with the heart of racing country, and there’s no shortage of inspiration to get you going. Variety abounds in Cabarrus County. The perfect venue can be found nestled in the vines at a stunning vineyard, on the front porch of a historic home or in locations for those who are, perhaps, just as passionate about motorsports as they are each other! Ceremonies have been held on the Start/Finish line at legendary Charlotte Motor Speedway and at Dale Earnhardt Plaza in downtown Kannapolis.
With each “I do,” the narrative of Cabarrus County becomes more romantic. But long before the confetti flies, the CVB’s team works to set plans in motion that will make the big day a success. A significant piece to most social celebrations like weddings is ensuring that guests receive a warm welcome. Rather than worrying if there are enough air mattresses to go around, let the CVB’s Sales team assist with securing a block of hotel rooms for the out-of-town guests on that ever-growing list. Already have certain amenities in mind? The CVB can help narrow your search for the ideal home away from home for your guests. Cabarrus County is home to 28 hotel properties and almost 3,000 rooms with price points for every budget. You can confidently check this one off your to-do list.
Venue? Check. Accommodations? Check. Cue the CVB’s Destination Services team. Becoming a matchmaker of sorts, Destination Services offers vendor selection assistance, including referrals and service requests according to the couple’s needs. The CVB maintains partnerships with many area vendors in the wedding industry and can help to connect the dots. We all know that a little extra goes a long way. Dependent upon the group, the CVB may also offer special amenities like arrival gifts that include maps, bags, select giveaway items and the 2014-’15 Cabarrus County Destination Guide.
Realizing that couples are almost always occupied before and after wedding week, the CVB can make suggestions, giving guests something to do outside of the main event. Along with the Destination Guide, the CVB’s website, www.VisitCabarrus.com, provides a complete list of area restaurants, attractions, events and activities. In addition to enjoying time together, friends and family can explore unique area attractions, including outlet and specialty store shopping, quaint downtown districts and historic sites, and our rich motorsports heritage. Cabarrus County is truly “Where Racing Lives,” home to Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMAX Dragway and many of NASCAR’s top team headquarters like Hendrick Motorsports and Roush Fenway Racing.
VisitCabarrus.com is also where couples will find the “Weddings” page, dedicated to listing contact information and other specifics of venues, vendors and services in Cabarrus County. Just click, sort and start your happily ever after worry-free.

Take it from newlywed Kaitlyn Schultz! After working with the Cabarrus County CVB, Mrs. Schultz recaps her experience and lends advice to soon-to-be sweethearts.
How did you first discover the CVB? We first discovered the CVB through our venue’s owner. We were interested in recommendations regarding vendors in the Concord area, and she mentioned the CVB was very helpful and provided us with a brochure.
Why did you decide to reach out to the CVB for assistance? I lived over an hour away from our wedding location, and my husband was stationed in another state, so it was difficult to find the time to research vendors together, let alone in person. I made a phone call to see what services they could provide and found that they would be able to help consolidate a lot of the work I needed help with.
What types of things did the CVB assist you with during your wedding planning process? The CVB helped us book a hotel for our guests, and they provided ‘welcome bags’ for our out-of-town guests. They compiled a list of the hotels in the area that met our list of requirements, which saved us a lot of time and energy! It also made it very easy for us to make an informed selection about our host hotel.
Would you recommend the CVB to other brides planning to get married in the Cabarrus County area? Absolutely, I would recommend the CVB to other brides in the Cabarrus County area! They were a joy to work with throughout the entire planning process.
Please share any feedback you have regarding your experience working with the Cabarrus County CVB. The staff at the CVB was extremely helpful to our wedding planning. They were always very responsive, helpful and did a fantastic job of following up to make sure everything was running smoothly. My only regret would be that I didn’t utilize them enough! Halfway through our wedding planning, we moved out-of-state and had to change our wedding date due to a military deployment. The CVB staff stayed in the loop and continued to make sure we were all set for our upcoming event. When I went to pick up the welcome bags (during a torrential rainstorm), the staff was very friendly, and they helped wrap everything up and deliver it to my vehicle so it would stay dry. And, they surprised us with a wonderful gift basket for our wedding! The CVB continually demonstrated fantastic customer service, which can be hard to find these days! I would absolutely recommend newly engaged couples to utilize their full range of services when planning their weddings in the Cabarrus County area.
