Cabarrus and the surrounding areas are full of people who want to go out and explore local events while meeting new interesting people, according to the Cabarrus Circle Club website. The Circle focuses on bringing people together through fun, community events and has grown to more than 600 members in less than a year.

"It only all started because I'm a Realtor that specializes in new construction and so a new home representative asked if I could to help promote a community event in Kellswater Bridge in Kannapolis," said the group's founder, Bryan Kalentek. "I thought of the Meetup idea because I had the second largest Meetup group in Charlotte back in 2008, so why not start a group that does events and promotes others exclusively in Cabarrus County?"

Kalentek is a Broker/Realtor®/Certified Home Buying Advisor®, and has been seen on HGTV.

Thanks to the group's rapid growth, there are already receiving savings offers presented by local businesses for members. Right now the group is completely free to join, although there will be a minimal fee in the future to cover the costs of bigger events.

"Our first goal for the group is to reach 1,000 members, which I believe will be the tipping point for better and better opportunities and perks for our members and local business owners," Kalentek said.

Members don't have to live in the county to join, and all members are welcome to host their own events, open to other members. Kalentek is also always looking to promote local causes, like the upcoming MS Walk in Kannapolis, where there is a need for more volunteers.

"I personally experience extreme joy by the connections people are making with other members," Kalentek said. "Imagine if two people become great or even best friends because you introduced them... that's the kind of joy I get! We believe that when two or more people come together, great things happen and you can never have too many friends."

Kalentek does live in Cabarrus County, but people still ask if he does.

"To me, that's like asking a mayor of a town if they live in that town," he joked.
