The 2016 Racing Guide Presented by The 600 Festival & Carolina Pizza Huts

Whether you're looking to see a battle in the Nascar All-Star Race or see Andy Grammer rocking out to "Honey I'm Good" on the Charlotte Motor Speedway infield, you can find what you're looking for in The 2016 Racing Guide presented by The 600 Festival and Carolina Pizza Huts

600 Festival Events

For more than 31 years, the nonprofit 600 Festival Association has commemorated the May races at Charlotte Motor Speedway with spectacular family-oriented events.

New in 2016, they will be introducing ticketed concerts to the 22nd annual Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street, presented by Coca-Cola, to deliver a top country music act Friday and Saturday night for only $15. This year, these acts will be Chris Young and The Band Perry, among other great lineups. 

Other activities remain free to the public including sponsor displays, musical entertainment, access to a variety of food and beverage, the kids’ zone and much more. 

Movies on the Campus

Movies on the Campus will kick off the 600 Festival Association’s event lineup May 6 in Haulers on Union downtown Kannapolis, North Carolina. In conjunction with Jiggy With the Piggy Festival, the 600 Festival Association will show Disney’s Cars 2 on an oversized outdoor screen with an anticipated beginning at 8:30p.m.

Haulers on Union Parade

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Haulers on Union will make their way down Union Street in Concord, North Carolina, en route to Charlotte Motor Speedway around 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 19. After the last hauler exits Union Street, Acoustic South, followed by The Tams will take the stage for a free concert!

Little 600 Race

Join the 600 Festival at the third annual Little 600 at the GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina. Starting at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, the race will utilize the complex’s fleet of rental karts and feature a full field of NASCAR drivers in the 15-lap main event as well as a NASCAR spotters race. Join us for a night of free family entertainment!

The Circle-K & Speed Street 2016 Event 

Celebrating its 22nd year, the Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street transforms the streets of Uptown Charlotte into one of the largest consumer events in the Southeast. With live musical entertainment, appearances by top NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers and celebrities, dynamic exhibits for all ages and an amazing assembly of NASCAR show cars and simulators, Circle K and Kangaroo Speed Street is an experience of a lifetime.

This multi-day event will be taking place May 26-28, 2016 from 12 to 11 p.m. each day. There will be several concerts throughout the 3 days, so be sure to visit their website to see the lineup. 

PNC Speed Street 5K

If you have ever wanted to run through Speed Street in Uptown Charlotte, now’s your chance! Register for the second annual PNC Speed Street 5K on May 28 starting at 8 a.m. PNC Speed Street 5K also welcomes young runners who can enjoy a 600-yard fun run starting at 8:45 a.m.

Main Events at The Charlotte Motor Speedway

These events highlight what's happening at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. There will be so many exciting events going on this spring, we didn't want you to miss out!

Four-Wide Nationals

The NHRA Mello Yello NHRA Four-Wide Nationals event, presented by Lowes Foods, will be on the zMAX Dragway April 22nd through the 24th, 8am - 5pm. Be sure to join the fastest accelerating machines on the planet as they tackle the world’s fastest drag strip. Every ticket is a pit pass, so come early to see your favorite drivers and their cars up-close before they bring over 40,000 horsepower down the concrete lanes. 

North Carolina Education Lottery 200

The North Carolina Education Lottery 200 has the stars of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series take on the high banks of Charlotte Motor Speedway under the lights in 200 miles of exciting, tailgate-flying action on May 20th at 7pm. Plus, see the fender-bending 40-lap Sprint Showdown—the last chance for Cup drivers to race their way into the Sprint All-Star Race!  It’s the only NASCAR Sprint Cup and Camping World Truck twin bill of the season. 

NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race 

The very best of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will battle on stock car racing’s all-star night May 21st at 7:30pm on the Speedway. In the 32nd blockbuster running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, sparks will fly in this checkers or wreckers non-points event with $1 million for the winner. The schedule also includes high-speed pit stop qualifying where the over-the-wall crews compete for the quickest hands in the south bragging rights.

LiftMaster Pole Night

NASCAR's three-round knockout qualifying format LiftMaster Pole Night will be held May 26th at 7:10pm on the Speedway. This quick race will determine which Sprint Cup drivers will “go” and who will “go home” during LiftMaster Pole Night as the field is set for the legendary Coca-Cola 600.

Hisense 4K TV 300    

NASCAR XFINITY Series regulars will battle against NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers in this 300-mile afternoon Hisense 4K TV 300 showdown. This event will take place May 28th at 2pm on the Speedway. The Hisense 4K TV 300 is an opportunity for fans to see great racing with tickets starting at just $25 and children 13 and under are FREE! 

Coca-Cola 600

Enjoy the 57th-running of the legendary Coca-Cola 600, NASCAR’s most challenging test of man and machine. This annual, famous event will take place May 29th at 6pm on, of course, the Speedway. Watch as the battle for the title erupts the crowds and echoes off the bleachers. Before the show begins, there will be an amazing pre-race show honoring our Memorial Day military heroes, along with a pre-race concert by Lee Brice presented by Advance Auto Parts Speed Perks. 

Other Things To Do & Places To Visit

If you are looking for something else to do while waiting for events like the Coca-Cola 600, we have compiled a short list of other events happening throughout the Speedway, as well as great places to visit nearby.

Andy Grammer Concert 

Known recently for his catchy hit "Honey I'm Good," Triple-Platinum recording artist Andy Grammer will be taking the stage at the Speedway. As long as you've purchased a race ticket, his concert is free and will be held May 21st. Visit their website for more details here

The Outlaw Showdown 

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series takes on The Dirt Track at Charlotte on May 27th at 6pm for the The Outlaw Showdown. Drivers will compete for prize money and prestige in winged, 850-horsepower open-wheel sprint cars on the lightning-fast, four-tenths-mile clay oval. The undercard features the South Eastern Crate Association features regional racers competing in equally powered late model race cars in the series’ biggest event of the year. Last year’s winner, Trent Ivey from Union, South Carolina, is likely to defend his title. 

Lee Brice Concert

Two-time GRAMMY nominee and country music megastar Lee Brice will rock the pre-race entertainment stage before the Coca-Cola 600 Sunday, May 29 at the Speedway. The full 45-minute Lee Brice Pre-Race Concert, presented by Speed Perks, will highlight the pre-race pit party, which will also include driver appearances, Q&As with some of the biggest names in the sport and even more live music.

Daily Tours

There will be daily tours you can take to explore different parts of the Speedway. There will also be special, exclusive tours of the NASCAR Hall of Fame throughout the week! Other tours include the Over the Wall Tour, where you can walk through the Speedway Club, the Feel the Thrill Speedway Tour, where you tour the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage, and more.

At the Speedway, they offer a variety of racing experiences and lessons. So, if it's always been your dream to feel the rush of NASCAR-level speeds, this is the place to be.
