The Spirit of ’45 Celebration Dinner: Honoring Our WWII Veterans

Jul 25, 2016 07:46PM ● Published by Melanie Heisinger

Calling all World War II Veterans:  In your honor, there will be a very special Spirit of ’45 Celebration Dinner in Concord on Sunday, August 28.  The event will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Embassy Suites by Hilton, Charlotte-Concord/Golf Resort & Spa and is FREE to all WWII Veterans and one guest.  The mission of this special project is to recognize and honor Veterans, both male and female, who served during WWII.  The Spirit of ‘45 Celebration will begin with a group photo at 4:00 pm, followed by dinner, a special recognition ceremony, a short program of speakers, and entertainment by everyone’s favorite singing and dancing duo,“Letters from Home”.  Mr. George “Pat” Waters, Grandson of General George Patton, will be one of the speakers.

If you or someone you know is a WWII Veteran, call today, so an official invitation can be presented to you.  The Spirit of ‘45 Celebration is also open to those who want to honor and share the evening with over 100 WWII Veterans.  Individual tickets are $45 per person.  Sponsored tables are also available.  Join us for this very timely and important event.

The Spirit of ’45 Celebration Dinner is a result of a series of central NC Veterans Coffee events hosted by Hospice & Palliative CareCenter and Rowan Hospice & Palliative Care, in conjunction with a program called “We Honor Veterans”.  The Veterans Coffees are now in 10 counties and provide generations of Veterans the opportunity to gather for free coffee, doughnuts, conversation and fellowship.  Through the Veterans Coffees we have met many World War II Veterans, heard their stories and developed relationships.  These new relationships fueled the idea to host the very special Spirit of ’45 Celebration events.
