"New Year, New You!" is the ultimate new year slogan that is typically seen everywhere. However, it has a tendency to get a little bit stale. It loses its value over time.

The desire to get in shape and healthy is a very typical new year resolution, and it often starts out with plenty of motivation. However, over time, it loses its easy to lose momentum as the mundane, redundant aspect of getting in shape kicks in. This is especially true if it's something new to you.

Luckily, we were able to get in touch with a local expert, Benjamin Ressler, manager of 24/7 Workout Anytime Concord, and get a few tips on how to get back into shape.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your role at 24/7 Workout Anytime?

I am the manager at Workout Anytime Concord. I am married and have two wonderful kids. I have a passion for healthy living and helping others enjoy getting in shape.

A lot of people are hoping to get back into shape after the holidays. What do you recommend for people getting back into it, as well as those hoping to start for the first time?

There are two major points to remember as people begin to get in shape.

1. Take it slow, there is no point in hurting yourself.

2.  Stay consistent. It is better to do a little and not give up than to go hard and give up after three weeks. A Personal Trainer is a great way to accomplish both of these things, they are knowledgeable and can hold people accountable.

Do you have any overall health & fitness tips for people looking to get healthy this January?

Apart from starting to exercise regularly, begin cutting unhealthy or unnecessary things out of your diet.

For example, just cutting soda will drastically change your body fat percentage in a matter of a few weeks. Eat right, not fanatical. It is so important to overall health, both physical and mental.

What else should we know about?

It is so easy to take advantage of our gym, simply because we have no contracts. You can join our gym for a month for less than a movie and popcorn - you have nothing to lose.

We provide a culture where everyone feels welcome and can enjoy getting or staying in shape. Our staff is very knowledgeable and our certified trainers can help you realize gains that are much harder on your own.
