Trivia Night is hosted by KanePunch Comedy’s Patrick, Joel and Nick every Wednesday at 7:45pm at Cabarrus Brewing Co.
According to Steve Steinbacher, the managing partner of Cabarrus Brewing, "The event and what the KanePunch crew does is exactly what we are all about, getting the community together and enjoying the fellowship in a relevant and historic environment here in Cabarrus County."
We were able to get ahold of Patrick Price, one of the KanePunch Comedy's members, to learn a little bit more about this fun mid-week event.
Tell us a little bit about Trivia Night. How and when did it get started?
What's your role there? We have 3 main people on the trivia side that are responsible for trivia night. I'm (Patrick) responsible for the production and marketing of the event. Joel Reyes is the host of the trivia nights. Nick Clemency is our director of operations for everything. To simplify it, I'm the one that makes sure the show goes off without a hitch and am responsible for getting people there, Joel is responsible for entertaining the crowd and Nick helps us with everything else.
What can someone expect while attending?People attending our CBC Trivia Night can expect an amazing atmosphere that is family-oriented, full of 3 rounds of fun trivia, comedic presence, and the best beer in the area. The brewery also features food trucks so the guests can fill their stomachs while enjoying a night of trivia. Teams can be up to 7 people in size and on the fourth Wednesday of every month we have a TRT (Total Request Trivia) night where all of the categories are requested by the teams. Very fun experience that never gets old.
What's one of the most memorable Trivia Nights so far?
The most memorable trivia night was our first one that we ever hosted with Cabarrus Brewing. Me, Joel, and Nick come from a comedy and production background and had never done the trivia experience before. To me that was an advantage because we built the experience around what we felt people would enjoy.
The first night was nerve racking because we had no idea what to expect crowd-wise. We didn't know if we were going to have 20 people or 100 people. I still remember walking up the stairs and seeing the entire mezzanine packed with over 100+ people to where it was literally standing room only. This surpassed anything that we had envisioned for our first night. You could feel the energy in the room and the night turned out amazing with no hiccups. We fell in love with the process of hosting the trivia nights and I believe both us and CBC knew that we were onto something. The energy and atmosphere has continued since that first night!
Is there ever a prize? The prizes for Trivia Night are provided by Cabarrus Brewing Company in the form of gift cards. First place gets a $50 gift card and second place gets a $25 gift card.
Is there anything else that we need to know about Trivia Night?Trivia night is a family friendly event and kids are welcome. There is no charge to play trivia we just ask that you bring your best and be prepared for a fun and entertaining experience.
Not to take away from Trivia Night, but we also host a stand up comedy night once each month on the third Thursday of month. It is titled "Craft Comedy Series" and features not only the KanePunch (Joel, Nick, and myself) but also many other local and touring comics. Our comedy group is called KanePunch Comedy and we do stand-up, viral videos, music, and more.
