It's Spring, and as a parent that means summer will be here before you know it! Planning ahead if you have kiddos waiting for you at home is always a good plan, especially if you have little ones that will be on their break. 

The Cabarrus County area has plenty of fun and exciting summer camps perfect for your little ones to go to. We've compiled a list below for your consideration. Don't see one that should be included? Let us know in the comments and we will add it! 

Get Outdoors


4-H Summer Fling

Ages: 5-14

4-H Summer Fling is a special program sponsored by the NC Cooperative Extension Cabarrus County Center 4-H program. The program is designed for youth between the ages of 5-14 and is intended to stimulate personal and educational interest while allowing children to have fun during the summer months. Most activities will be held at the Cabarrus County Center, 715 Cabarrus Avenue West, Concord.

Registration continues through the summer. The registration deadline is seven days prior to the session.

Participant must complete a 4-H Enrollment Form and a Medical Release Form to participate.

2017 Summer Camps

Ages: Discovery Camps: 6-12; Teen Camps: 13-14

Frank Liske Parks offers Summer Day Camp programs. Each week, the theme changes. One week they could be exploring filmmaking, while the next they could be exploring different countries and learning their history. However, no matter what, there will be daily swimming and outdoor time involved!

Cannon YMCA Summer Programs

Location: The Y has Locations in KannapolisWest Cabarrus, and Harrisburg

Ages: All ages


Through summer day camps, The Y provides kids a variety of imaginative activities that nurture their spirits, challenge their minds and make their bodies healthy and strong. Every summer they create new experience for hundreds of kids and teens.

These programs include: Around the World theme, Teen Expeditioners Camp and Mini Camp for 4-5 year-olds. Their traditional summer and preschool camps encourage kids to explore new adventures through hands-on learning. Youth can find out who they are in Teen and Leaders in Training (LIT) Camps. Cannon Y Summer Camp is a safe and engaging place!


Boys & Girls Club

Location: 247 Spring St NW, Concord, NC 28025

Ages: 6-14

Their Summer Program operates from June to August during the months when children are out of school for summer break. The program is for rising 1st through rising 9th graders, and is open from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm Monday through Friday. Registration begins each year in February and continues until the program reaches capacity.

Breakfast, lunch, prepared fresh daily, and an afternoon snack are included in the program at no extra cost.  Each day children participate in a variety of  activities such as arts & crafts, computers, game room, life skills, performing arts, and physical fitness.

The Summer Program schedule includes weekly field trips to a variety of fun places like the Gem Theater, Starlight Theater, Kannapolis Rec Park, Fries Skating Rink, and many more. Each group also gets to spend a few weeks at Camp Spencer, where they have the opportunity to swim in the pool, canoe, fish, and participate in other special programs.


Camp Cannon

Ages: 6-12

Dates: Camp is scheduled to run for 7 weeks from June 5 through July 28, 2017 with the exception of the week of July 3. Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with early care starting at 7:30 a.m. and late care until 5:30 p.m.

At Camp Cannon, we specialize in weekly enrichment sessions focused on The Arts & Academics, College Prep, SciTech, and Sports for students from ages 3 to 18. Campers learn while having fun on our 65-acre campus which includes state-of-the-art classroom facilities and performing arts center, two gymnasiums, a dance studio, a strength and conditioning center, athletic fields, track, tennis courts, and wooded wetlands.

Actors of Tomorrow

Actors of Tomorrow is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to providing quality children's theatre in Cabarrus County. Their Mission is to create and enrich the lives of young people by providing meaningful opportunities to explore the field of Performing Arts. 

They are very excited to offer three 1 week camps.  Below you will find a description of each camp!

July 10th - July 14th

In the magical Kingdom of the Underwater Deep, a beautiful Mermaid Princess longs to become a human being. During a frightful shipwreck a Prince is tossed in the sea and rescued by the Princess. When she sings him a haunting lullaby he falls in love with the girl with the beautiful, musical voice. The Little Mermaid defies her father the Sea King and makes a pact with Queen Odessa, trading her voice for human hood.  Her friends, Aruba and Finny, are at her side through the adventure providing humor and fun to this children's musical play of the beloved Hans Christian Andersen story. 

The Little Mermaid’s Summer Camp provides an opportunity for students aged 8-14 years to explore the exciting world of the professional actor. Through rehearsal, high-energy games and skill building exercises, students will have prepared a unique performance on Friday showcasing all of their new skills!

July 17th-July 21st

The story is just as you remember it. Set in the French countryside, a handsome prince lives in a beautiful castle. Though the Prince was rich and fortunate, he cared little for his people. For his cruelty a spell is cast. Until he is loved by a good and fair lady, he will remain a beast.

Come along on this journey as we meet new characters that will help the Beast break the spell.
Through rehearsal, high-energy games and skill building exercises, students will have prepared a unique performance on Friday showcasing all of their new skills!

July 24th-Jul 28th

"Kids Take Broadway" camp provides an opportunity for students aged 8-16 yrs to explore the exciting world of Musical Theatre. Students will learn basics in acting, singing, dancing and all that JAZZ!  

At the end of the fun-filled week, actors will have prepared a unique performance showcasing all of their new skills!


Drama Kids

Dates: July 5th-7th; Red, White, and Blue…and Drama, Too!  is a 3-day mini-camp! Enjoy fun drama games and activities to help celebrate July 4th week! Ages 6-10.

July 17th-21st; Disney’s Beauty and the Beast- Musical Theater is an exciting musical theater camp for a challenging and lively drama experience! Ages 7-14.

Drama Kids’ extensive and comprehensive curriculum was designed by educators, and is the result of more than 35 years of experience and continuous development. While kids are learning and developing new creative thinking styles and skills, they are also developing other important life skills, including public speaking. ALL Drama Kids programs are guaranteed to be both educational and FUN!

At the Cabarrus Baseball Academy, they are focused on providing top-notch baseball and softball instruction with the highest levels of customer satisfaction – they will do everything they can to meet your expectations.

They offer a variety of offerings to choose from. With player development at an all-time high, they are here to make sure your son and/or daughter is provided with a high level of instruction that will have them leaving our facility with a renewed confidence at the plate and/or on the mound.  Confidence is key in this game and they are here to give them the tools your kids need to boost that and succeed. 

 

Cabarrus County Gymnastics

Ages/Dates: Full Day Camp Flip Flop - Rising K - 5th grade 
$40/ 1 Day, $80 / 2 Days, $120 / 3 Days, $160 / 4 Days, $175/week

The full day camp flip flop is from 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.  Activities include gymnastics, games, crafts, swimming, skating, and more!

Snacks will be provided but campers will need to bring a bag lunch.  The cost of the camp includes all field trips - however campers may want to bring extra spending money.

Available every week from June 13th - August 26th.  We will be closed July 2nd - July 10th.

Half day Pre-School Camp Flip Flop - Ages 3-5 - $115/week
The half day Pre-School camp flip flop is for children 3-5 years of age and is from 9am to 12pm, Monday through Friday.  Activities include gymnastics, games, crafts, story time, and snacks!  All campers must be toilet trained.

Available June 20th - June 24th

Looking for a great summer camp experience for your children this summer?  CCG has just the camp for you!  They have half day and full day summer camps for elementary aged children and a half day camp for your pre-schoolers!  Early drop-off and late pick-up are available.

Note: All Camps have a $25 non-refundable deposit due at the time the time of registration, with the balance due the first day of camp.  All campers will receive a t-shirt!

Wings to Soar Children’s Grief Camp is for any child age 6 - 16 who has suffered a loss.

Volunteers help with a variety of tasks such as serving breakfast, snacks, lunch, clean-up, and preparing areas for breakout sessions. Group buddies assist counselors with a variety of tasks such as art projects, play time, etc. Social Worker and Grief Counselors are always needed to help lead these groups.


A.S.C.E.N.D - Aviation camp at Rowan County Airport

Dates: June 22-27; ASCEND Aviation Summer Camp daily 9:00AM until 4:00 PM at the EAAgles Nest, Saturday until 12:00 Noon for Young Eagle Flights.

Experiencing the joy of flight can be one of the greatest experiences anyone can have. The rich history of aviation has inspired generations. Whether you are interested in flying as a career, a hobby, or just want to know more, their camp will provide a great experience.

Planning for our ASCEND 2016 is underway. This is the sixth year of our program.  The ASCEND summer camp is a week long day camp that immerses our campers in all aspects of aviation, for hobby or career.  It is based at the EAAgles Nest, the home hangar of EAA Chapter 1083 at the Rowan County Airport in Salisbury, NC. 

With the generous support of many public as well as private donations, they have made this program a tremendous success. Many of our past "campers" have already received their pilots license for solo flight or full private pilot privileges. Camp is open to all teens ages 13 to 18. 
A.S.C.E.N.D offers a glimpse into what a career path in aviation could be like.
