Women in Business: Concord City Councilwoman Jennifer Parsley Will be the Keynote Speaker

Apr 13, 2017 02:18PM, Published by Melanie Heisinger, Categories: Community

The Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual Women in Business event on Friday, April 28, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Concord First Assembly’s Suite 15.
The event is designed for women, by women, offers a program full of speakers and information that will educate, empower and inspire.

Honorary Chair Dakeita Vanderburg-Johnson of TEAM HONEYCUTT- Allen Tate Realtors and National League of Junior Cotillions – Cabarrus County Chapter, will emcee the fast-moving event, sponsored by Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast, ACN, S&D Coffee and Tea and Ben Mynatt Family of Dealerships. “Working women have so much on their plate these days,” said Vanderburg-Johnson. “Family and home responsibilities juggled with work requirements leave little time for women to take care of themselves and relax. Our event is designed for women to network, have fun and take away some new life strategies.”
Concord City Councilwoman Jennifer Parsley will be this year’s keynote speaker with the topic “Setting Your Story FREE!” Parsley spoke at last year’s event and her inspirational message received rave reviews, with attendees asking to hear more! “What a magnificent opportunity for women to gather, relax, and be in an environment where they are heard, loved and accepted,” said Parsley. “This event will build friendships and stronger community by just showing up and letting go of the idea of perfections.  Together, we stop making life harder by pretending it’s not hard.”
There will be a panel discussion featuring women who have been incredibly successful in nontraditional female roles.

Panelists are:

o   Angie Brown, general manager, Great Wolf Lodge
o   Veronica McRae, plant manager, Corning, Inc.
o   Judy Rose, athletic director, UNC-Charlotte
o   Phyllis Wingate, division president, Carolinas HealthCare System NorthEast

Other speakers will cover women’s health, fun and different fitness options, and healthy eating choices made easy.

Lunch will be catered by Doughgirls Catering and Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers will be treating guests to a dessert sundae bar.
A variety of Chamber members will host vendor tables for guests to explore throughout the day and award door prizes at the event’s end.
Tickets are $45 for Chamber members and $60 for nonmembers and can be purchased at or by calling the Chamber office at 704.782.4000 ext. 8110.
