Last year marked the first Back the Blue event, where two women from Mt. Pleasant wanted to organize an event that would show support for those that serve the community through the police department.

This year is the second annual Back the Blue event, and it has expanded since last year. On July 28th, there will be a softball game and on August 1st there will be a prayer circle held for the police department.

Local law enforcement and EMTs will participate in the Friday softball game at McAllister Field in Mt. Pleasant, the game starts at 7pm.

There will be free concessions for law enforcement, and paid concessions for those joining. Proceeds will go to the families of fallen officers. Also on site there will be plenty of family activities to enjoy.

On August 1st at Mt. Pleasant Town Hall will be the "Prayer at the Pole." Here gift bags will be handed to the officers present, among other donated items. Event starts at 5:30pm.
