Each year, the Concord Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) celebrates the local arts community with their annual Concord on Canvas event. Over $1,000 is raised annually for the participating high school art departments of Cabarrus County. This year 19 high school student artists and 21 local professional artists have prepared original works of art that are being featured and sold at the event.
Banners displaying the original artwork that is up for auction are on display now along Union Street in Downtown Concord. This outdoor gallery will be in place through March 10th.
Online bidding is underway and continues up until the live auction on Friday, March 9th. The Live Auction Party is being held at the Bridge Entrance of Gibson Mill. Tickets for the live auction party are on sale now for $35. Each ticket includes a Taste of Downtown Concord with samplings from most Downtown Concord restaurants and eateries, plus unlimited locally crafted beer and wine including beer from Red Hill Brewing CompanyCabarrus Brewing Company and High Branch Brewing Co.

Singer/songwriter and master slide guitarist John Emil will provide entertainment for the evening. Attendees will have the opportunity to take advantage of a silent auction featuring many items from Downtown Concord businesses, as well as the live auction where each painting is sold. Some online bids hold at the live auction, others are outbid. If bidders cannot attend the live auction the CDDC will make a proxy available to continue the bidding process.
