Support Your Local Market at the First Ever Cabarrus County Strawberry Festival

May 03, 2018 01:05PM ● By Melanie Heisinger
On May 5th, 2018 at the Piedmont Farmers Market on Winecoff School Road, celebrate everybody’s favorite little red fruit: the strawberry! Join in the fun at the Cabarrus County Strawberry Festival.

According to local farmers, strawberries will be at their peak ripeness that first weekend in May, so Piedmont is pulling out all the stops.

"This is our first "strawberry" festival even though we have had several festivals at the market," Sheila Greene, one of the event coordinators told us. "We have festivals as a way to connect with the community. One of my favorite memories is when people just have fun. Our market has always been "the place to be on Saturday mornings" as told by so many of our customers...its their social event for the weekend, festival times are even more so!"

Local vendors will have bushels of strawberries plucked fresh from their local farms along with other seasonal fruits and veggies as well as a variety of meats and eggs to be had. Handmade crafts, soaps, lotions and much more will also be available. "I think we can all be excited about another season is about to begin," said Greene. "As the season unfolds and things grow, there will literally be new things at the market popping up weekly."

Gene’s Backyard BBQ Food Truck will be on hand as well as the folks from Hive & Co. hosting a fun kids drop-in activity workshop while you shop.

There will also be a basket raffle containing goods from local vendors, as well as face painting, cooking demonstrations, and more.
