The Concord Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) selected Johnson Y. Bray to lead the organization as its new Executive Director earlier last month, June 2018. His first day was July 2nd.

Bray's accomplishments and qualifications include being the now former Planning Director and Main Street Coordinator for the Town of Troy, North Carolina, serving as the Executive Director of the nonprofit organization Troy Neighborhood Redevelopment Corporation, and a Research Analyst at DavenportLawrence in Aberdeen, NC. He is also Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University graduate, holding a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public and Urban Affairs. His education continued onto the Masters program at Appalachian State University where he earned a Master of Public Administration degree with a specialization in Town, City and County Management.

Along with thorough knowledge and experience in economic development, he also is familiar with web content management, public policy, social media management, event planning, and community/stakeholder relations.

"I am excited for the opportunity not only to work in Downtown Concord but also call it my home. I understand the great work that has been done up to this point; Diane Young, the CDDC Board of Directors, and City of Concord have done a wonderful job moving Downtown Concord forward. My primary goal is to maintain that momentum and build upon the success,” Bray said in a CDDC press release

The search process for the right candidate started back in February, according to CDDC President Alan Bishop. In the press release he stated, "We are very excited about the skills and enthusiasm that Johnson brings to the organization. We look forward to the community welcoming him to Concord and wish him a successful and exciting future with our organization.”

The CDDC has welcomed Bray with open arms and is looking forward to what his experience and knowledge will bring to the city.
