Spring is upon us, and as a parent that means summer will be here before you know it! Planning ahead if you have kiddos waiting for you at home is always a good plan, especially if you have little ones that will be on their break. 

The Cabarrus County area has plenty of fun and exciting summer camps perfect for your little ones to go to. We've compiled a list below for your consideration, presented by Code Ninjas and Heavy Hitters of Soul Music Festival (Coming in July!).

Education


Code Ninjas Camps

Fun and rewarding coding camps for kids ages 7-14.

Game Builder’s Club                                                   June 17-21, Aug 19-23

The Code Ninjas Game Builder's Club is the most exciting program for your child can build their very own video game every single day! Every day their skills at game building will progress further and they will have a blast while they do it. Games are made in Scratch, a block-based programming language This curriculum is designed for young kids and those who are just beginning to code.

 



Beginning JavaScript                                                  July 15-19, Aug 5-9

In this course, ninjas will learn real JavaScript. They will progress through creating numerous JavaScript applications that can run in a browser or even on a server using node.js. It's not strictly game based, so students who take this course should be looking for a deeper understanding of real coding.




 

CoDrones                                                                    July 22-26

Code Drones allows ninjas to see their code in action by coding their very own drone and making it do a series of tricks and follow certain flight paths. Kids love to build their drone, set it up, and then make their own challenges.

 





Minecraft Create                                                        June 24-28, July 22-26

Minecraft Create is a project filled camp where students will be able to use multiple programs to build objects and import them into their very own Minecraft world! This is the perfect environment for your child to learn about editing and modeling their own 3D objects, practice solving Redstone circuit puzzles, and interact with their fellow Minecraft lovers! The curriculum is designed for all ages, and all levels of experience. nut does require a purchase of a $26.95 Java Edition Minecraft account not included with tuition.

 

Roblox Create                                                             July 17-21, Aug 12-16

In this camp, students learn the basics of building and creating in Roblox (a family-friendly, user-generated online gaming platform similar to Minecraft). In Roblox, your child can create much more than just a game. Every student will design, plan, and build their own 3D world!

Snap it Together                                                             Aug. 19-23

Discover the vast world of electronics through challenging projects with snap circuits! Learn the fundamentals of electronic circuits and experiment with coding the controls on the circuit board! This hands-on camp will really light up their creativity!



App Builders Club                                                         Jul. 29-Aug. 2, Aug. 12-16

Brainstorm and build your very own app using the MIT App Inventor! Plan, design and prototype your very own app using a visual programming environment and build an app for smart phones and tablets using this block-based programming tool.



Browse & Build                                                              June 24-28, Jul. 29 - Aug. 2

Learn to create your own website and how to build games that can be made entirely in code without the assistance of a game building engine!




RoboPRO                                                                         July 8-12, Aug. 5-9

This camp offers a series of activities based off of the Code ninjas Robotics Toolbox with Ardunino. Full of beginner and advanced projects for students, each student will tackle robotics, coding and engineering along the way.

Cabarrus Code Quest STEM Coding Camp

July 30th, 31st and August 1st, 2019

8:30-1:30 PM daily

Cost: $100.00 per child

Lunch will be provided

The CCS STEM Code Quest summer camp will be held at Central Cabarrus High School over the course of three days. The camp provides coding experiences for students at all levels of coding from beginner to advanced, with the purpose of providing participants with a competitive edge in the growing field of coding.

Horizons Unlimited Summer Camp

Culinary Camp

July 29-Aug 1
Cost: $120

Does your student love to cook?  This is the camp for you!  We will learn the basics of food safety, baking, knife skills, and planning meals all while having a BLAST. We will be working with the experts of Rowan-Salisbury Schools Food Service department and local restaurateurs who are leaders in the field of food service and hospitality.  Future chefs will be in the making!

Ages: Rising 8th-10th graders

Time Warp Camp 

June 17-21

8am - 2pm 

Cost: $120.00

In partnership with the Rowan Museum (rising 3rd - 5th graders) Time Warp Camp explores Rowan County's early history. Students will visit historical properties in downtown Salisbury including the Utzman Chambers House, the Old English Cemetery, Freedman’s Cemetery and the Old Stone House near Granite Quarry. Each participant will have the opportunity to experience Colonial living through the following activities during the week-long camp:

  •     Create a journal and practice writing with a quill

  •     Locate historical burials and learn local stories of notable Salisburians

  •     Learn how to shape and mold punched tin

  •     Experience candle dipping, weaving fabrics and rugs, gardening, and outdoor cooking,
  •     Introduction to recognizing antiques and artifacts

Out and About with Mr. Neil Season 1 (Repeat)

Rising 1st and 2nd graders

Being outside and exploring the outdoors is the MOST FUN EVER! Kids will interact the outdoors and amazing critters in a safe, fun, and exciting environment. Trips to area ecosystems and a chance to be a “junior curator” of the museum at Horizons allow junior environmentalists to bring the museum to life for future visitors!

Space Camp

Celebrate the 50thanniversary of the Apollo moon landing with Space Camp!  Shoot rockets, build a robot rover, and solve problems on the way to Space.  The moon is our focus all week, but we will also be exploring current and future space missions.  Join us for a week of astronomy fun!

SHS STEM Camps

Choose One or Two Weeks to attend
Focused on enriching experiences for students who are passionate about Science and Math. This camp allows them to dive deeper into topics and have rich experiences outside of the traditional classroom. The sessions are taught by local teachers and the camp structure allows them to branch out and teach a subject in which they have a personal interest.

Classic Summer Camps


WinShape Camps

 

WinShape Camps for Communities is a day camp that provides a professionally trained staff to create the most fun and meaningful camp for completed Kindergarten throughout 8th graders in town. WinShape Camps for Communities partners with local churches and Chick-fil-A operators to provide an exciting camp experience for campers right in their own community!

Whether your kids like soccer or science, there is something for everyone. WinShape Camps combines sports, recreation, arts, Bible Study, and worship into one unforgettable week.

WinShape Camps Concord will be held on the campus of Connect Christian Church (3101 Davidson HWY, Concord, NC) June 17th-21st 8:00am-5:00pm.

Half Day Adventure Camps

Get your kids outdoors in these completely outdoor half-day camps. Campers will interact and discover the natural world around them, complete with multiple animal encounters in Critter Camps.

A variety of experiences from paddleboat polo and mini-golf to creek stomping and hiking will engage young minds in Adventure Camp. Kayak and log-rolling camps will increase participants confidence in the water.

Watercraft Teen Camp (with expedition) will engage our older campers in all types of water sports including kayaking, logrolling, canoeing, paddle boating, and tubing. We will even be offering archery camp for the warrior in all of us. Spring break camp will be out of this world with the theme of Star Wars!

Cannon Memorial YMCA Summer Camps

Through their summer day camps, the YMCA provides kids a variety of imaginative activities that nurture their spirits, challenge their minds and make their bodies healthy and strong. Every summer we create new experiences for hundreds of kids and teens. We make sure our campers have fun while making new friends, building self-confidence and becoming more self-reliant.

Our traditional summer and preschool camps encourage kids to explore new adventures through hands-on learning. Youth can find out who they are in Teen and Leaders in Training (LIT) Camps. Cannon Y Summer Camp is a safe and engaging place! 

Locations include Kannapolis, West Cabarrus, and Harrisburg.

Boys & Girls Club of Cabarrus County


Their Summer Program operates from June to August during the months when children are out of school for summer break.  The program is for rising 1st through rising 9th graders, and is open from 7:30 am to 6:30 pm Monday through Friday.  Registration begins each year in February and continues until the program reaches capacity.

Breakfast, lunch, prepared fresh daily, and an afternoon snack are included in the program at no extra cost.  Each day children participate in a variety of  activities such as arts & crafts, computers, game room, life skills, performing arts, and physical fitness.

The Summer Program schedule includes weekly field trips to a variety of fun places like the Gem Theater, Starlight Theater, Kannapolis Rec Park, Fries Skating Rink, and many more.  Each group also gets to spend a few weeks at Camp Spencer, where they have the opportunity to swim in the pool, canoe, fish, and participate in other special programs.


Bricks for Kidz

The Bricks 4 Kidz program provides a fun and exciting, hands-on approach to learning through the use of LEGO® Bricks and our proprietary battery operated, motorized models. Your child’s imagination and creativity will soar during our unique and educational sessions. This unparalleled program incorporates one of the best-selling toys of all time, LEGO bricks, with interesting and dynamic models for students to enjoy.  Children will be exposed to important Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematical concepts while having fun!


LEGO Movie Camp

June 24th - 28th 

9:00 - Noon

Based on the original LEGO Movie and LEGO Movie 2. Join Emmet, Lucy, Unicorn Kitty and Benny on a journey to stop Bad Cop and Lord Business from super-gluing the world! Campers will put their engineering skills to work as they build motorized models, 3D figure models and mosaics. They will love playing fun games and doing cool crafts based on The LEGO® Movie and its sequel.


Mining & Crafting

July 8th – 12th

1:00 – 4:00 pm

Minecraft® is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine.  Experience the world of Minecraft with LEGO® bricks in this fun session! Campers will start by crafting their shelters and some of the mobs, critters and tools using LEGO bricks.  Children will face new challenges each day, building motorized Bricks 4 Kidz models, and crafting key elements from the popular Minecraft game.


Engineering in Motion: Planes, Trains and Cars

July 15th - 19th

9:00 – Noon

Making it move is the name of the game in this exciting camp! Campers will build motorized cars, trucks, dragsters, trains, planes and more. As they enjoy the fun of building, campers will understand the basic working principles of the vehicles that are a part of our everyday lives. Campers will also make crafts and play games.


Movie Mash-Up

July 22nd – 26th

1:00 – 4:00 pm

Join us on a movie mash-up adventure! This camp is filled with a variety of awesome model builds from your favorite movies. LEGO® enthusiasts will build characters and scenes from this year’s blockbuster hits Toy Story 4 and How to Train Your Dragon-The Hidden World as well as past favorites such as Minions, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, etc.  Each day will offer something new including characters from the original movies and the sequels! Campers will explore concepts of engineering and architecture through building specially-designed Bricks 4 Kidz motorized models, mosaics, and 3D figure build.


Jurassic Brickland

July 29th – August 2nd

9:00 – Noon

Are you ready for an adventure of a lifetime? You are about to enter Jurassic Brick Land! Campers will build a world that comes to life with 3D LEGO models of Brontosauruses, Velociraptors, T-Rexes, and more.  We’ll learn about amazing dinosaurs that lived during the Jurassic period, and other extinct, prehistoric animals that roamed the Earth and swam the seas during that era and millions of years later.  Show us your building skills using our Bricks 4 Kidz motorized project and Brick kits.


Carolina Courts Basketball Camps

Beginner/Intermediate Players Ages 6-18 

Any of our Summer Camp Series, Skills and Scrimmages or Girls Just Want to Have Fun Camps are perfect for the athletes that are looking to push themselves to the next level. These camps include skills sessions, scrimmages, drills to encourage athletes to reach their fullest potential on and off of the court.

Advanced Players Ages 6-18

Any of our Summer Camp Series, Skills and Scrimmages, or Advanced Players Camps are sure to enhance your skills in the off season. Use these camps to hone in on your skills before the fall ball season comes back around. Coaches will expand on the skills and ideas taught in the regular season so that each player gets a full understanding of the game, ultimately increasing their basketball IQ.

*For each camp, athletes will be broken up by age and skill so that each athlete receives the proper instruction for where they are at athletically.


Carolina Courts Volleyball Camps

Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced Players Ages 6-11: Our All Skills Camps are perfect for the athletes that are looking to push themselves to the next level. These camps include skills sessions, scrimmages, drills to encourage athletes to reach their fullest potential on and off of the court.

Beginner/Intermediate Players Ages 12-18: Any of our All Skills Camps are sure to push each athlete to reach their fullest potential.

Intermediate/Advanced Players Ages 11-18: Any of our All Skills and Boot Camps are sure to enhance your skills in the off season. Use these camps to hone in on your skills before the fall ball season comes back around. Athletes Looking to Make their Middle/High School Team: The Boot Camps are geared towards athletes looking to make their school team. Coaches will run drills and focus on skills that are necessary for a successful school team tryout. The coaches will work with the athletes to ensure that they are aware of the mentality of the school coaches when choosing athletes for their team, and how to use that to their advantage.

Camp Cannon

At Camp Cannon, we specialize in weekly enrichment sessions focused on The Arts & Academics, College Prep, SciTech, and Sports for students from ages 3 to 18. British Soccer Camps
