Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Presents ARCTIC EXPRESS

The City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department is excited to present another holiday program.  Arctic Express will take children on an imaginary journey visiting winter festivals around the world on Thursday, December 4th at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Village Park, between West A and C Streets, Kannapolis.   The program is $2 per person.

Children can join Conductor Steve as he takes them on a voyage around the world to learn about various winter festivals.  The program takes an entertaining look at a variety of festivals and holidays from each end of the Earth.  Steve combines a unique blend of education and entertainment to creatively teach about holidays like Diwali, Kwanzaa, Solstice, Lunar New Year, Ramadan and Hanuk.

The man who added the catchphrase "Git-R-Done" to the American lexicon is coming to Concord. Dan Whitney, known better as Larry The Cable Guy, has proven to be one of the most successful comics. Larry has received a Billboard Top Comedy Tour Award. For the second year in a row, Larry has been named to the Forbes Celebrity 100, which lists the hottest and most successful people in the entertainment industry.

Dance Ensemble Performs Aiello Work in Fall Concert

The UNC Charlotte Dance Ensemble continues its fall performance until Nov. 23. Performances are at 8 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee in Robinson Hall’s Belk Theatre.

This fall concert is the first for the newly independent Department of Dance, which is housed in the College of Arts + Architecture. It will feature the premiere of works for the Dance Ensemble choreographed by faculty members Sybil Huskey and E.E. Balcos.

Oklahoma artist explores nostalgia in current art exhibit at Pfeiffer

NOVEMBER 19, 2008 – Mixed media artist Lynda Andrus explores childhood thoughts using familiar materials in her series of works entitled "Enchanted Childhood" on display now through Dec. 12 in the Grace and Cameron West Art Gallery located at Pfeiffer University.

The gallery is located in Goode Hall on the university’s Misenheimer campus. An artist reception will be held on Monday, Nov. 24, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Pfeiffer celebrates the season with annual Christmas performances Dec. 7

NOVEMBER 17, 2008 -- Pfeiffer University will usher in the holiday season with its highly anticipated annual Christmas concerts featuring two of the university’s ensembles. The Concert Choir and Wind Ensemble will unite to present two separate performances of a traditional holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 7.

The festive programs will include many traditional favorites in classic and new settings. The first performance will begin at 4 p.m. and an evening concert will start at 7 p.m. Both events, which are free and open to the public, will be held in the Henry Pfeiffer Chapel on the Misenheimer campus.
