"For Real?" Exhibition Coming to Concord Tuesday, August 18, 2009 (778 reads)
CONCORD – A new exhibition celebrating trompe l’oeil, artwork that fools the eye by mimicking reality, will be on display August 28-October 10 at the Arts Council Galleries.
There are foods that look ready to eat, books seemingly ready have the pages turned and two-dimensional works that almost have to be touched to comprehend they are not three-dimensional. The show presents artwork created to look very real in ceramics, acrylics, oil, glass, wood and paper.

Concord - Performing and literary artists are eligible to apply for grants through the 2009 Regional Artist Grants Program. The application deadline is Wednesday, August 26, at noon. Performing artists may include musicians, dancers, composers, choreographers, theatre professionals, storytellers and spoken word artists. Literary may include fiction and nonfiction writers, poets, playwrights and songwriters.

The City of Kannapolis Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with Ike’s Construction, is excited to announce the first free outdoor movie to be shown as part of their summer entertainment series. On Friday, May 22nd at 8:45 p.m., the hit movie, WALL-E (G) will be shown on the 40’ x 20’ Time Warner Big Screen at the Village Park Amphitheater, between West A and C Streets off of Dale Earnhardt Boulevard.
After hundreds of lonely years doing what he was built for, the curious and lovable WALL-E discovers a new purpose in life when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. Pack a picnic, spread out a blanket and join them and a hilarious cast of characters on a fantastic journey across the universe.
