Dance Ensemble Performs Aiello Work in Fall Concert

The UNC Charlotte Dance Ensemble continues its fall performance until Nov. 23. Performances are at 8 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee in Robinson Hall’s Belk Theatre.

This fall concert is the first for the newly independent Department of Dance, which is housed in the College of Arts + Architecture. It will feature the premiere of works for the Dance Ensemble choreographed by faculty members Sybil Huskey and E.E. Balcos.

The program also will include “The Waiting Room” by the late Salvatore Aiello, choreographer and artistic director of Charlotte’s North Carolina Dance Theatre from 1985-95. Mia Cunningham, a dancer in her 18th season with the theatre, is restaging the work in partnership with the Dance Department.

Tickets are $14 for the public, $12 for UNC Charlotte faculty and staff and $6 for students and senior citizens. Contact the Robinson Hall Box Office at 704.687.2599.
