CAC Now Accepting Grant Applications From Regional Artists
Concord - Performing and literary artists are eligible to apply for grants through the 2009 Regional Artist Grants Program. The application deadline is Wednesday, August 26, at noon. Performing artists may include musicians, dancers, composers, choreographers, theatre professionals, storytellers and spoken word artists. Literary may include fiction and nonfiction writers, poets, playwrights and songwriters.

These grants provide individual artists or groups of unincorporated artists with project support for the enhancement of their artistic development. Emerging artists may apply for up to $3,000 and established artists for up to $5,000.

The grant program is offered by the arts councils of Cabarrus, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Rutherford, Stanly and York, SC, counties. Artists who have lived in these counties for at least one year are eligible to apply. The program alternates disciplines each year. Visual artists and filmmakers will have the opportunity in 2010.

Cabarrus artists apply for the grant through the Cabarrus Arts Council. The grants are highly competitive. Applications and guidelines are available on the “grants” page at www.CabarrusArtsCouncil.org. Artists are strongly encouraged to make an appointment with Noelle Rhodes Scott, arts council executive director, to go over their applications.
