Concord Rotary Installs New Officers; President

 

Concord - The gavel has been passed to the new officers for the upcoming year. Outgoing President Sam Leader delivered his parting speech touching on the many good works from the previous year. There were 47 weekly meetings, three socials, a Christmas social, and programs such as YMCA, United Way, WFAE radio, Literacy Council, Carolina Thread Trail, Concord Dive Center, the Murdock Study, the state of Concord by Mayor Padgett, Cyber Crime Awareness, Skeet Shooting, Lacrosse, US Secret Service, How I got where I am today by the newest members, history of SunDrop Bottling, the historical musings of Bobby Overcash and many more.
 
 
Special projects completed with success this year included the Can-A-thon, 12th Fish Fry Fundraiser, Rotary Habitat House, hosted the Egyptian Rotary contingency, Meals on Wheels, CART, 50/50 drawing for international projects, and two $1,000 scholarships and two $100 citizenship awards to students at Concord High and Central Cabarrus High Schools. The club took a club picture in March and received the District Governor Award of Excellence at the Silver Level this past year.
 
President Sam thanked the officers and chairs of the committees, his family and the members for their support.
 
Upon the completion of President Sam’s address, Calvin Gaddy of the Albemarle Rotary Club and Assistant District Governor administered the oath of office to the upcoming officers and president.  President Sam passed the gavel to incoming President JC McKenzie who in return presented Sam a pin and plaque in honor of serving as president. JC spoke on the upcoming year and adjourned the meeting with the four-way test.
