KANNAPOLIS INTIMIDATORS ANNOUNCE 2009 FIELD STAFF

Kannapolis, NC – The Chicago White Sox have announced the 2009 coaching staffs for their minor league affiliates.  The Kannapolis Intimidators will be led by first year manager Ernie Young.  Young comes to Kannapolis after spending the 2008 season as the hitting coach of the Rookie League Great Falls Voyagers.  During his career Young played for the Oakland A’s (1994-1997), Kansas City Royals (1998), Arizona Diamondbacks (1999), Detroit Tigers (2003) and Cleveland Indians (2004).  Young also was a member of the 2000 Gold Medal Olympic Baseball Team in Sydney, Australia.  When Young retired at the end of the 2007 season he was the active minor league leader in homeruns (319), RBI’s (1,136) and Runs Scored. 
 
Joining Young in the dugout in 2009 is Hitting Coach Greg Briley.  Briley was born in Greenville, NC and attended Louisburg College and North Carolina State University.  Briley played for both the Seattle Mariners (1988-1992) and the Florida Marlins (1993) in his major league career.  This is his first season in the White Sox organization after spending nine seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.

Golfweek Ranks The Club at Irish Creek in America’s Top 10 New Courses

Kannapolis, N.C., Nov. 18, 2008 – Golfweek magazine has selected The Club at Irish Creek as one of the 10 best courses to open nationwide during the last two years.  The Davis Love III Signature Course was honored in the cover story of Golfweek’s Oct. 25 issue, which ranked Irish Creek as No. 5 among America’s best new private courses and No. 9 in the nation overall.

Two SAL Clubs Transferring to Midwest League in 2010

St. Petersburg, Fla. - Minor League Baseball, together with the Midwest and South Atlantic Leagues, announced today that the Bowling Green and Lake County clubs will transfer their memberships from the South Atlantic League to the Midwest League, beginning with the 2010 season. The transfer of clubs addresses concerns over travel and provides better geographical alignments for the two Class A leagues.

Intimidators Club Grasshoppers 10-5

Greensboro - The Intimidators received home runs from Christian Marrero (3rd) and Logan Johnson (11th) in a 10-5 win in Greensboro. It's the third straight victory for the Intimidators (5-3).

Intimidators Comeback Falls Short 7-6 To Power

Charleston, WV - The Intimidators scored four runs in the ninth and had the tying run on base but Mark Fleischer grounded out to end the game as Kannapolis fell 7-6 to West Virginia.
