KANNAPOLIS, NC – The Intimidators saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium, as the Greenville Drive pulled out a 5-3 win.
A pair of home runs—one each from Justin Greene and Kenny Williams—was not enough for Kannapolis. The Intimidators led early, but it was a long ball from Greenville that was the difference. Anthony Rizzo hit a two run home run off of Stephen Sauer in the seventh to give the Drive a 4-2 lead.
Greg Infante did not factor in the decision, but gave up his first run of the season. Infante, who was named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for April 8-19, gave up one run on four hits in five innings.
And while Infante departed the game with the Intimidators leading, the Kannapolis bullpen could not hang on. Leroy Hunt gave up one run in 2/3 innings before he was ejected for arguing with home plate umpire Mario Seneca. Sauer (1-1) took the loss after giving up the long ball to Rizzo. Drew O’Neil also surrendered a run in two innings of work.
Bryan Price (1-0) earned the victory for Greenville by giving up two runs, one earned, in his six-inning start. Hunter Strickland pitched the final three innings for the save.
