Catawba River Basin Group Files Suit Against IBT

CBL-2006-12.jpgConcord - As expected, a group from both the NC and SC areas of the Catawba river Basin have filed suit against the Interbasin Water Transfer (IBT) which was approved early this year, to give Concord and Kannapolis a maximum of 10 million gallons per day from the river.  The two cities say they have followed the law and, after six years of going through the process of approval, have no intention of laying down now.

Murder Suspect Arrested in SC

wiles[1].BMPCONCORD – The York County Sheriff’s Department has arrested Mindy Lea Wiles in South Carolina. Concord Police have been searching for Wiles, 26, of 799 Crestmont Drive, Concord since early March.  Police believe Wiles murdered Mark Dale Hallford, 39, of 443 Harris St.  Hallford was found dead on March 8 at his residence.

Jail Mediation Unsuccessful

Concord – A day-long mediation between the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners and petitioners in a rezoning lawsuit related to the construction of new jail facilities was unsuccessful Wednesday. It has hoped that the mediation would bring both parties together to find common ground and resolve issues without the expense of further litigation.

Concord Fire Death Ruled Homicide

CONCORD A person was found dead in a residence located at 443 Harris Street around 5:30 p.m. last night.   Concord Police Detectives and Concord Firefighters have now determined that the cause of death is a homicide and the fire was the result of arson.
