Cabarrus Farmers May Get Emergency Funds

Farming.jpgWASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Robin Hayes (NC-8) announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has designated 47 North Carolina counties primary natural disaster areas due to abnormally low temperatures and freezing conditions that occurred from April 6, 2007, through April 9, 2007.  Farmers in Cabarrus County may qualify for emergency funding due to this designation.

UPDATE: Burglar Turns Self In

Bost, Henry.jpegKannapolis - Henry Lee Bost turned himself in today at the Kannapolis Police Department.  He was charged with First Degree Burglary, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Felony Larceny, Larceny of a Firearm, Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Assault by Strangulation.  He is currently in the Cabarrus County Jail under a $20,000 bond.

JUST IN: CTC, Windstream Merging

CTC.jpgCONCORD – CT Communications, Inc. today announced a definitive agreement to merge with Windstream Corporation.  In a vote by its board of directors, CT Communications has accepted an offer from Windstream to acquire all of the outstanding shares of CT Communications for $31.50 per share in cash.  The offer represents a 46% premium to the closing price of CT Communications’ stock on logoWindstream2.jpgMay 25, 2007, and a 31% premium to the previous 30-day average trading price.  Including the assumption of cash and debt, the transaction is valued at approximately $585 million.  The merger is subject to approvals from federal and state regulators, as well as CT Communications, Inc. shareholders.

Motor Racing Network Relocating to Concord
