Hayes Announces Federal Funding For Kannapolis Project

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Robin Hayes (NC-8) today announced that he has secured $468,000 to fund the Kingston Drive Culvert Replacement project in Kannapolis.  This new funding will be provided as part of the FY 2009 Homeland Security Appropriations Act that passed the House Appropriations Committee passed today.  The next step will be for the House and the Senate to approve this funding.

Duke Endowment to Purchase Bloodmobiles

Concord - With funding from The Duke Endowment, the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) will be buying two new bloodmobiles to increase mobile blood collections. The grant to Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast will benefit 14 hospitals served by CBCC.  The project will total $504,871 over the next two years.

Cities Continue Irrigation Ban -- Alter Other Restrictions

The Cities of Concord and Kannapolis continue to monitor water levels of all the streams that provide raw water for treatment and distribution to their customers. While rainfall has contributed to the rising levels of the water reservoirs, Lake Howell is still over three feet below full pond and stream flows feeding all reservoirs are below normal. To be prepared for a dry summer season when evaporation is at its peak, it is desired for stream flows to be closer to normal levels and/or for all reservoirs serving our communities to be full.

United Way Program Prepares for Graduation
