Wine Tasting to Benefit the Hope House Foundation

Mooresville – A wine tasting event, entitled Wine Tasting for Hope, will be held on Tuesday, August 19th from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm.  All event proceeds will go to The Hope House Foundation.  The event will include a wine tasting plus gourmet chocolates and desserts. Entertainment will be provided by Hannibal and a silent auction will be held.  This unique event takes place at Ahlara International located at 155 Joe Knox Avenue in Mooresville, NC. The general public is invited to attend and tickets are $40.00 per person.  Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Community Groups Invited to Apply for Park Improvement Grants

Concord  – Community groups and school organizations that are interested in improving or adding to recreation facilities are encouraged to apply for the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department Matching Incentive Grant Program. Cabarrus County has $44,050 still available to community organizations. Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, August 20.

Bookstore to Observe Sales Tax Holiday

Discount Drug Card Program Sees Huge Participation Increase

Cabarrus - Cabarrus County’s free prescription drug discount card program has experienced a 545 percent increase in participation since the program started in March 2008. In June, 818 residents used the drug discount cards at local pharmacies to receive average savings of 26 percent per prescription. As of June 30, 4,381 prescriptions have been filled through this program.

Epic Master Development to Begin Construction

Charlotte – Epic Master Development, LLC, Master Developer of The Epic, a community covering nearly 1,300 acres on the border of Cabarrus and Mecklenburg counties, has moved another step closer to beginning construction. Epic Master Development, LLC has received approval to begin grading and establishing erosion control at the site. Upon completion, The Epic will have approximately 3,000 houses, two commercial centers and an 18-hole Tom Fazio II golf course.
