Concord – Courtyard by Marriott is rolling out its new lobby and room design in Concord. This is the first Courtyard in the area featuring the “refreshing business” makeover, dubbed by company officials. The 128-room Courtyard Charlotte Concord is scheduled to open this Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Located at 7601 Scott Padgett Parkway , the hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by SREE Hotels, LLC of Charlotte, North Carolina.

This week is the official opening of the new IMAX Theater located at Concord Mills and some movie-goers are wondering, what’s the big deal? For those that have yet to partake of the “IMAX Experience”, as dubbed by its creators, the new, specially enhanced theater offers a larger screen, digitally enhanced picture, and a customized audio system. Depending on the show time, one might pay up to four dollars more to see an IMAX movie and possibly more for 3-D movies. So, is it worth it? There was only one way to find out.
 

Concord — Windshear, Inc., has received two Telly Awards for its DVD titled “The Windshear Advantage.” The promotional video gives a glimpse into Windshear and its wind tunnel – the only commercially available full-scale, single belt rolling road tunnel in the world.Windshear received a Silver Award (1^st place) in the Automotive/Vehicles category and a Bronze Award (2^nd place) in the Corporate Image category. Concord, NC — Concord Mayor Scott Padgett announced Monday that he is officially filing for re-election.  Padgett has been mayor of Concord since 2001 and a resident of the city since 1972.
