McDonald’s ® USA Executives Visit S&D Coffee, Inc.

Kannapolis Road Update

Kannapolis - The City of Kannapolis has closed the entrance to Cloverleaf Mall and the entrance to Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium at Stadium Drive. There is a bridge failure at Cloverleaf Mall. Also, Dakota Street remains closed.

 
People can access Cloverleaf from Pennsylvania Street and the baseball stadium from Moose Road.

City of Concord Presented Public Power Awards of Excellence

Raleigh, NC  – Twenty-one public power communities received “Awards of Excellence” at ElectriCities Annual Meeting, August 8-9, 2008.  Cities apply for awards in the following categories: Grassroots/Building Political Strength; Economic Development; Communications; Customer Service; Key Accounts; Energy Efficiency; and Training.  ElectriCities members from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia attend the Annual Meeting.

SunTrust Names New Community Exec for Cabarrus and Rowan

Concord  - SunTrust Banks, Inc. announced that Jeffrey H. Joyce, Sr. was named the new Community Executive for Cabarrus and Rowan counties effective July 1, 2008. Mr. Joyce succeeds Toby Prewitt who had been Cabarrus County Community Executive for 13 years. Mr. Prewitt will continue to serve in an advisory role for SunTrust and work part-time in the bank’s Commercial Real Estate Division.

Lowe’s Store Slated For Southwest Concord

Current Water Levels update

The Cities of Concord and Kannapolis continue to monitor water levels of all the streams that provide raw water for treatment and distribution to their customers. While rainfall contributes to the levels of the water reservoirs, lake levels still remain below full pond and stream flows feeding all reservoirs are below normal.

Artist Megan Gulledge Returns to Her Stanly County Roots

Her exhibit “Roots and Wings” will be on display now through Sunday, Aug. 31, in the Grace and Cameron West Art Gallery at Pfeiffer University. An opening reception will be held from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, in the gallery (located in Goode Hall on the Misenheimer campus). The event is free and open to the public.
