Concord - SunTrust Banks, Inc. announced that Jeffrey H. Joyce, Sr. was named the new Community Executive for Cabarrus and Rowan counties effective July 1, 2008. Mr. Joyce succeeds Toby Prewitt who had been Cabarrus County Community Executive for 13 years. Mr. Prewitt will continue to serve in an advisory role for SunTrust and work part-time in the bank’s Commercial Real Estate Division.

Mr. Joyce brings 24 years of banking experience to his new position, 15 of them in commercial lending. In addition to commercial lending, he has held banking positions in dealer finance, retail and business banking, and private banking.
Mr. Joyce was born in Oxford, N.C. and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Barton College in Wilson, N.C. In the community he serves on the boards of the Cannon Memorial YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County and was past board president of Cabarrus Workshop. Mr. Joyce is a member of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis. He and his wife Kathy have been residents of Kannapolis since 1993 – they have three children.
