CRP uses GIS technology to market 16-county region

The Charlotte Regional Partnership has added another weapon to its business recruitment arsenal.  The public/private economic development organization has revamped its CharlotteUSAProspector.com site selection Web site with technology that helps companies find the right location for their businesses in the 16-county Charlotte region.

How CharlotteUSAProspector.com works

Using CharlotteUSAProspector.com’s  GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping technology, users can display available properties on an interactive Google map, seeing detailed information about available properties, including development incentives and contact information. They also can create demographic reports, such as labor force and consumer spending, and map businesses by industry to visualize their distribution and concentrations throughout the area.

The Charlotte Regional Partnership’s member counties have the ability to update their local site and building data directly on CharlotteUSAProspector.com. The North Carolina updates also are transmitted to the Department of Commerce’s NC SiteSearch, a searchable database of available buildings and sites throughout the state.

At the heart of CharlotteUSAProspector.com is powerful GIS technology called ZoomProspector Enterprise developed by GIS Planning Inc, an award-winning economic development leader and GIS expert that has built more than 190 customized economic development sites in the past 12 years.

CharlotteUSAProspector.com contains more than 750 available industrial and commercial buildings and over 650 industrial facilities, office spaces and greenfield sites in the 16-county Charlotte USA region.
