Harrisburg native’s exhibit to go on display at Pfeiffer University
MISENHEIMER. – Lisa Stafford, a Harrisburg native, will give people a glimpse into her life and allow them to view the world through her eyes when her paintings and photography are displayed at Pfeiffer University later this month.
Stafford’s exhibit “Expressions of Looking Within Ones Self” will be on display Jan. 22-Feb. 28 in the Grace and Cameron West Art Gallery on Pfeiffer’s Misenheimer campus. A public artist discussion and reception will be held in the gallery from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3.
Vivid and creative, most of Stafford’s paintings and photos are simple to explain; they are merely everyday things around her that she finds intriguing enough to share with others.
“I try to capture these images for someone else to see, as if sharing the beauty around me,” Stafford said. “My artworks, regardless of medium, are deep expressions of emotion for me…Now I am letting go of these things so that others can enjoy and appreciate what I am, what I have felt in the past and what they can see through my eyes.”
Stafford attended Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, where she received the first offer to sell one of her pieces. A 2005 graduate of Pfeiffer University, she earned a bachelor’s degree in arts administration.
The gallery talk and reception are free and open to the public. The gallery’s general hours are from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, except during special events. | Posted on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 (Archive on Tuesday, January 23, 2007) Posted by cabarrusmagazine
