CONCORD – A local artist has created original pen and ink renderings of the Concord Convention Center and Embassy Suites Resort and Spa.
Brenda E. Hardin, an art teacher at A.L. Brown High School, was selected to create a rendering of the Concord Convention Center and Embassy Suites Hotel. Ms. Hardin produced three original pieces. During the opening ceremony last Friday the artwork was presented to the Concord Mayor and Council Members. The art will now hang in the Concord City Municipal Building. The other two original pieces were presented to Terry Crawford (it will be on display at the Concord Convention) and John Q. Hammons.
A native of Concord, Ms. Hardin has taught art in public schools for 39 years. She has taught art to adults and college students and thru the parks and recreation playground programs. In addition to her teaching career she operates a private art studio.
She belongs to the N.C. Art Education Association, National Art Education Association, Pastel Society of America, Pastel Society of N.C. and the Cabarrus Art Guild.
She received the 2004 N.C. Secondary Art Teacher of the Year Award, the 1998 and 1999 Cabarrus Art Guild Best of Show, the 1996 Cabarrus Art Guild 2nd Place Award and Honorable Mention in the 1998 Cabarrus Art Guild Show.
The Cabarrus Arts Council assisted in the selection of Ms. Hardin for this honor.
