CABARRUS COUNTY - The Cabarrus County Senior Center is offering three events geared toward the young at heart. They will be designed to be an opportunity for older adults to showcase their talents, enjoy some local entertainment and to meet new friends.
The 2nd Annual Mr. and Mrs. Sassy Senior Pageant will be held Saturday, February 10 at 6 p.m. at the Cabarrus County Senior Center. Pageant contestants will participate in an interview, “Sunday Best,” pajama wear and talent competition. Entry deadline is February 1. Entry fee is $10 per couple. Registration forms are available at the Cabarrus County Senior Center or by calling 704-920-3484. General admission tickets are $2. Tickets for children 12 and younger are $1.
A Hollywood Nights Party will be held Saturday, February, 17 at the Mount Pleasant Community Enrichment Center from 6-10 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and include dinner, entertainment and dancing. Area artists, from kindergarten-age to 100-plus, are encouraged to enter the SweetARTS Intergenerational and Intercultural Art Show sponsored by the Cabarrus County Senior Center. There is no entry fee. Registrations must be received by 5 p.m. Thursday, February 1. The show will open at 5 p.m. Saturday, February 17 and will run through Tuesday, February 20. All entries must meet the criteria of one of three categories: visual arts (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, general craft), literary arts (essays, poems, short stories, autobiographies), or heritage arts (such as, basket weaving, ceramics, crocheting, pottery, rugs, jewelry, needlework, woodcarving, etc.).
