Meet candidate Dean Kelsey at Mount Pleasant Lion's Club

Dean Kelsey Candidate for NC House District 67 • Dean Kelsey is an Unaffiliated candidate running for NC House District 67. • Dean and his wife have lived in the area for more than 25 years where they raised their two sons. • Dean is running because he wants to ensure that the state that his grandchildren and YOUR children and grandchildren live in is one that: • Provides high quality education to ALL of its citizens and ensures they have the tools to improve their lives. • Provides access to quality, affordable health care. • Protects women’s rights for both equal pay and healthcare • Has reasonable policies that protect the environment • Promotes tolerance • Dean strongly believes that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and inequality. He has personally seen the impact that a quality education can have on an individual student’s life. • He is committed to fighting for increased funding for Head Start programs. o These programs have proven successes: ▪ Children in the program have better social skills, impulse control, greater academic success and lower instances of obesity. ▪ The return on investment for Head Start programs is 36% – 141% on reduced health care costs alone. • He is committed to help solve the opioid crisis in District 67 and our State. • He believes that our criminal justice system and in particular the social and racial inequities in sentencing must be addressed and solved immediately.
