On Stage at the Davis: Ben Sollee

Genre-Bending Cellist

en Sollee is a genre-bending cellist, singer, composer and storyteller. After a Lincoln Center show, The New York Times wrote: “meticulous, fluent arrangements continually morphed from one thing to another. Appalachian mountain music gave way to the blues, and one song was appended with a fragment from a Bach cello suite, beautifully played.” Sollee is known for inventive arrangements and combining his classical training with bluegrass and pop.
