Meet Jack Soy! Available at Ruth's Memorial: Cabarrus County Humane Society.

If you love the outdoors, it can be difficult to include your dog in your adventures during the warmer months. As we near the hottest time of the summer, having a companion that loves the heat would make getting outdoors that much more fun. We've compiled a list of 5 breeds of dog that love the heat as much as you do.

1. Border Collies

Known for their energy, Border Collies are ideal for warm-weather lovers. They are also incredibly intelligent, though not too easy to train. Being medium-sized, they are hard-workers and enjoy getting outdoors as much as you do, and are happiest when consistently active.

2. Golden Retriever

A classic breed for being both sweet and energetic, the Golden Retriever is great for any outdoor adventure. Because they are so loving, they are great for families with other animals, as well as children. If swimming is your preferred adventure, Golden Retrievers are the perfect dog for you.

3.  Labrador Retriever

The Labrador Retriever, much like the Golden, is loving and energetic. They thrive in both warm and cold climates, and can play in the water for hours without tiring. These breeds take lots of initial training and consistency as a pup, but once it becomes established that you are the leader, they will happily do anything for you, including going on many adventures.

4. Chihuahua

Chihuahuas are incredibly energetic, great for those that prefer more leisurely outdoor adventures. Warm weather is when they are most comfortable, and actually don't do too well in the cold. They need intensive training at first, as they can become intolerant of others if not initially given boundaries, but they can be incredibly loyal and loving if trained properly.

5. Beagle

Beagles are an intelligent and loving dog, ideal for dog-only families. They have an amazing hunting instinct, so be sure to be wary each time they are taken off the leash. If trained properly, they can be great adventure companions that thrive in the heat.
