7 Fun Places to Celebrate Independence Day In & Around the Cabarrus County Area

Summer is officially here! That means BBQs, picnics, and plenty of pool time. It also means that Independence Day is right around the corner. 

There are so many great places in and around the Cabarrus County area to not only catch some fireworks, but to celebrate the 4th of July. Read on to find out what to do this year and where to catch some fireworks. 


Harrisburg July 4th Celebration 


Celebrate at Harrisburg Park for the 20th annual July 4th Celebration as we honor our Military and their Families starting July 3rd, 2017. Cabarrus Magazine will even have a car in the parade! 

Parade on Highway 49 in Harrisburg (9am) and Festival at Harrisburg Park (4pm - 11:30pm)

Fireworks * Amusements * Food * Parade * Crafts * Entertainment


Thursday, June 29, 2017: Miss Harrisburg July 4th Pageant (6pm) at Hickory Ridge High School
Monday, July 3, 2017: Festival at Harrisburg Park (4pm - 10:30pm)
Tuesday, July 4, 2017: Parade on Highway 49 in Harrisburg (9am) and Festival at Harrisburg Park (4pm - 11:30pm)

July 3: Independence Fireworks Extravaganza 


Celebrate Independence Day with a spectacular post-game fireworks show with the Intimidators!

The July 3: Independence Fireworks Extravaganza is presented by the City of Kannapolis. Watch the Intimidators play the Delmarva Shorebirds on Monday, July 3, at 7:05 p.m. with an All-America fireworks display after the game.


Fourth of July Celebration and Naturalization Ceremony


Join The Charlotte Museum of History to celebrate the Fourth of July! Their Fourth of July Celebration and Naturalization Ceremony kicks off at 10am. 

At 11:00 am, they will host a naturalization ceremony with a presentation of the flag by the Sons of the American Revolution. The League of Women Voters will also be on site to register new and existing citizens alike!

At 12:30 pm, there will be a presentation on Betsy Ross and the Legend of the First Flag.

At 1:00 pm, there will be a presentation on Spies, Traitors, and the Struggle for Independence. Throughout the day we will have guided tours of the Hezekiah Alexander Home Site, crafts, and a scavenger hunt.

Red, White & Blue Lawn Party with Fireworks 

Join the The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge at the Golf Pavilion July 1 from 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. with live music, food trucks, local NC beer, games and fireworks. Celebrate at the Red, White & Blue Lawn Party! Picnic blankets or patio folding chairs are recommended. Festive red, white and blue attire encouraged.

This event is open to the public and has no admission fee.

Food & beverages available at a la carte pricing. Coolers and pets are not permitted at this event. Public event parking is available at 13024 and 13034 Ballantyne Corporate Place parking decks, a short walk to the golf pavilion.

Fourth of July Festival 


U.S. National Whitewater Center‘s Fourth of July Festival is a two-day celebration featuring outdoor adventure, yoga, live music, and spectacular firework displays. 

Musical performances on the Belmont Abbey Island stage will take place in the afternoon and evening of each day, followed by a stunning firework display over the world’s largest man-made whitewater river. 

Bring out your blanket or chairs, pick out a great viewing spot, and enjoy the show!

6th Annual Charlotte Firecracker 5k 

Enjoy a summer evening of fun and celebration at the 6th Annual Charlotte Firecracker 5k and Family Fun Run on July 3rd, 2017. Hosted By Windyrush Country Club.

Bring the whole family!

The post race party just got better! Enjoy the beautiful Windyrush pool after your run (don't forget there will be a bag drop so you can change)!

SkyShow 2017 Fireworks Spectacular

Look no further than SkyShow 2017 Fireworks Spectacular for the Southeast’s largest outdoor fireworks spectacular. The fireworks will start after the Team USA vs Team Cuba baseball game on July 4th, 2017. The game starts at 6:05pm.

Since we partner with the Charlotte Knights, the best views of the fireworks is inside BB&T Ballpark.

If you’re not looking to go to the game, you can still enjoy the show from many places around the park.

Come early are reserve your spot on Romare Bearden Park, directly across Mint Street from BB&T Ballpark, which will provide you with the best-unobstructed view of the fireworks outside of the ballpark.

Don’t want to sit in Romare Bearden? No problem! There are parking lots surrounding the area that will provide you with great vantage points for the show.

Make sure you park your car early, with the SkyShow Street Party and the Charlotte Knight game, spots are sure to fill up quick.
