50 Local Business Owners Attend the CDDC's Social Media & E-Commerce Event

Recently, the Concord Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) hosted a Social Media & E-Commerce workshop for local businesses.

"We had 50 attendees, all local small business owners," Holly Sloop, the CDDC's Marketing Coordinator, told us. "About half were Downtown Concord businesses and the other half businesses outside of the immediate downtown district."

The workshop was hosted at the Union Street Bistro by the CDDC and co-hosted by the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce  and the Rowan-Cabarrus Small Business Center.

This workshop was aimed at helping small businesses grow their online presence. The keynote speaker for all sessions was Melanie Diehl, a Public Speaker for Google GYBO, an Email Marketing Expert, and a Social Media Marketing Pro.

Attendees were able to learn how customers find businesses online and how to promote online presence with search engine optimization (SEO) and online advertising. Other tools like Google Analytics and G Suite were also introduced as a means to help businesses function online.

Other aspects of the event included information on how to be found in Google Maps searches using "Google My Business", a free tool to manage your business information across Google. It’s the easiest way to help your business be found online.

E-commerce is more important than ever to brick and mortar businesses. At this portion of the event, businesses were able to learn how to set up an e-commerce site that is not difficult to launch and maintain.

Ultimately, it was a successful event and attendees left with a bounty of useful information to help their businesses run more smoothly using online toolsets.
