4 Places to Celebrate Dad Around Cabarrus County Father's Day Weekend

Jun 07, 2018 06:49PM ● By Melanie Heisinger
It's almost Father's Day, but what to do? Maybe a BBQ in the park will do? Or a fishing trip? Though these ideas are fun, they aren't necessarily unique or interesting. Not knocking the traditional Father's Day experience, however, it can be fun to mix it up.

This year, Father's Day lands on Sunday, June 17th, 2018. Here are some fun things happening that weekend for you and your family to consider doing with dad. Let us know in the comments what your plans are!

Doughnuts With Dad

Looking for an interesting way to celebrate dad in relationship to your faith? Head to the The Billy Graham Library in Charlotte for a day with doughnuts and appreciating "our earthly fathers and let them know just how special they are."

Enjoy complimentary doughnuts and beverages beginning at 9:30 a.m. and all fathers will receive a special gift.

Concerts in the Park: Clay Walker

Head to Village Park in Kannapolis Father's Day eve for a free concert in the park! Can't go wrong with that price, if you ask me.

On June 16th Clay Walker will take the stage, performing chart-toppers such as “Dreaming with my Eyes Open,” “If I Could Make Living,” “This Woman and This Man,” and “Rumor Has It.”

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and picnics/coolers, sit back and enjoy the show. To see what else is happening in Village Park this 2018, visit our calendar

Carolina Coin & Stamp Show

Is your dad more into coins and stamps? Lucky for him, there is a Coin & Stamp Show at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center June 14th-16th! Expect to find coins, ancients, stamps, postcards, currency, and more. It's the perfect place for collectors to celebrate dad a day early.

Fireworks! Kannapolis Intimidators vs. Greensboro Grasshoppers

Baseball is definitely a classic pastime, and yes maybe a little bit cliche for Father's Day, but it's hard to resist fireworks! Grab your mitt and your Kannapolis Intimidators gear and head to the field for some fun for some early Father's Day festivities. They take on the Greensboro Grasshoppers, and it's sure to be a great game. Stay late and watch the firework show after the game, which begins at 7:05pm.

If you want to go on Father's Day and skip the fireworks, the Intimidators take on the Grasshoppers again starting at 5:05pm.

Play ball!
